On Friday June 19th, the Kona Cacao Association presented two $5000 checks to the beneficiaries of the 2015 Big Island Chocolate Festival. Accepting the check on behalf of the Kona Pacific Public Charter School was Shaheer Faltas, the new Head of School. The funds will go towards equipping the new commercial kitchen/cafeteria being built on the Kealekekua school campus in the summer of 2016. Accepting the check on behalf of the “Equip the Kitchen’s Campaign” for the new Palamanui College was Jean Hull, who has helped spearhead raising over $250,000 for the new culinary program at the college. Both Mr. Faltas and Ms. Hull thanked the Kona Cacao Association board members, the organizers, volunteers, sponsors and restaurants that were in attendance that evening as part of the annual Mahalo Party held at the Kona Natural Soap Company/Kokoleka Lani Farms.
“We are thrilled to be able to donate $10,000 to our beneficiaries this year”, said Farsheed Bonakdar, President of the Kona Cacao Association. “Our volunteers and Board Members worked very hard in the planning and implementation of the 2015 Festival at the Fairmont Orchid on May 9. We had fantastic support from our sponsors and the many restaurants and resorts whom participated.”
